Enquire about classes See class timesWhat is chair yoga?
Chair yoga is real yoga — adapted so you can do it seated, or with the chair nearby for balance and support. It's not a lesser version. The chair is a smart tool that makes the practice available to more people.
You'll breathe, move through yoga poses, build strength and mobility, and take time to arrive in stillness. Everything is adjustable for your body on the day.

Who it's for
Chair yoga is designed for anyone who finds floor-based exercise difficult, tiring, or off-putting. It's particularly well suited to people who are new to yoga, returning after a break, or managing ongoing health conditions.
Classes are small, unhurried, and non-competitive. Everyone moves at their own pace. Modifications are always offered — just let me know what's going on for you on the day.
Your teacher
I have been teaching gentle yoga on Sydney's Northern Beaches since 2016, with a particular focus on making yoga accessible to people who think it isn't for them.
My approach is gentle and grounded, rooted in classical yoga philosophy but always practical. I love adapting poses to suit people's needs on the day, and I always include a fun pose to keep it light. My motto is No Pain, No Pain!
I also teach gentle yoga at my backyard studio, Paradise Yoga, in Avalon. These classes are open to anyone who would like a mat-based practice.
Common questions
Do I need any yoga experience?
Not at all. Everything is explained clearly, and there's no assumption you've done this before. That said, people with yoga experience are also more than welcome.
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes you can move in. Flat shoes or socks. A water bottle if you like. Everything else is provided.
I have a health condition — can I still come?
Most likely yes. Please get in touch before your first class so we can have a chat about what to expect and how to modify the practice for your needs. If in doubt, check with your GP or specialist first.
Is it actually yoga, or just stretching in a chair?
It's genuinely yoga — breathwork, classical poses, mindfulness, philosophy. The chair is an intelligent adaptation, not a shortcut. You'll be surprised what's possible.
Can I try a class before committing?
Yes, your first class is free!
How do I book?
No need to book in advance — just come along. It's a good idea to arrive 10 minutes early for your first class. If you'd like to let me know you're coming, get in touch — my details are below.
